Do you believe in soul mates? Not necessarily romantic soul mates, but a person whose soul matches yours and you get along with in a way that you never have with anyone else?
Anonymous

Yes. Absolutely.

Soul mates are people who come into your life and impact it in a way that you suddenly feel like someone understands who you are, not only to them, but to yourself.

So many people come in and out of our lives and they only identify with what they see, or what they want to see. You may be a meal ticket, a stepping stone, a temporary harbor of rest, or just an amusement. Some people come and go. You can’t hold onto them.

Soul mates you can’t get rid of. You can’t break up with them, or move on from them. The reason? Because no matter what you carry a piece of them in you and they carry a piece of you in them.

You will forever remember the person you were or are with them, and the person you are to yourself when they are around.

Soul mates can be anyone. I have several soul mates. Including my mom, my best friend Amy, one of my new kindred spirits Stef, and a select few other people that help me live a fulfilled life.

Just do one thing, when you find a soulmate let them know how important they have become to you. Soul mates need to hear that.

Amy and I sat in the car the other day after class and we talked to each other, as we usually do. We talked out our love lives, or lack thereof, we talked about the friends that are leaving, the friends we no longer have and our families. I swear, with Amy I can sit in any place and talk to her about so many wonderful or horrible things and know that no matter what she and I will be there for each other.

We determined the types of people we are by combining literary characters together. “I’m Holly Golightly and Lisbeth Salander.” Amy told me. We spent a couple moments trying to find the other half of my character “Elizabeth Bennet and….” We settled on Carrie Bradshaw, but I think I have a different writer in my head and heart. Frances from Under the Tuscan Sun. Maybe I am all three. Maybe I am just a compilation of everyone I know.

What I do know is that when Amy and I walk side by side places it’s fun to see people’s reactions. Me, in all my tall, planned outfits that consist of J.Crew, Madewell and vintage finds and Amy in her studded jackets, ripped tights, with piercings, two-tone sheered hair, and her kind eyes. She is, inexplicably one of the most unique and memorable people I have ever met. You know why? Because, the first moment we met we understood that in each other is a kindred spirit.

Last night after work Miss Cary Randolph of Fresh Every Day and I met up and walked down to The James Hotel to meet up on their rooftop bar for a little blogger meet up. It started to pour before our full party arrived so those of us who had arrived, Justin of Justin Chung Photography, Marisa of The Significant Other, James of The Modern Revival, and Gabe of Pleats Are For Lovers decided to try Toad Hall just a few doors away.  There we were joined by Mariah of Quite Continental, Jonathan of Jonathan Evans, his amazing glorious lady Victoria, Jenna of Miss Jenna B, and Lawrence of HTTTGAP & Sartorially Inclined

I can only say it was absolutely fantastic. Toad Hall had much more of a personal laid back attitude than Jimmy (the rooftop bar). And laughs were exchanged freely. I can only say that great things will continue to come from my friendships made.

I can’t wait to have Mariah, Marisa and Cary collaborate with some things in the future. Also, James and Justin are interested in coming down to Pennsylvania to experience the rural life that is.

Cheers to each and everyone I saw and met last night. It was lovely!

I took this photo of my two very wonderful friends Kristen and Gillian. I miss them like crazy. They have such a fun unique style of dressing, that I always add an extra funky touch to what I am wearing when hanging out with them.
