I just watched this last night, and was pretty blown away by the soundtrack and overall sound work. It’s, in my opinion, a character completely and totally on its own. Check it out. Lena Dunham is a co-writer, and it shows. John and Olivia crackle when on screen.

If you are in the market to see a movie that is both visually stunning and one that takes you further than most “feel good movies” I suggest The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. The cast is outstanding, and the plot weaves the lives of seven British senior citizens who whether by choice or by circumstance come to inhabit the dilapidated but stunning Marigold Hotel. Their stories begin to intertwine as they explore the later years of their life, reflect on their youth, question their marriages and try to reignite their sex lives.  Laughter, tears, and all around fun is what you can expect, with many memorable sharp moments of beauty. All I have to say is bring some tissues, as well, keep an open mind to the characters, and their situations.

Bronson (Nicolas Winding Refn, 2008)

Remember how wonderful the soundtrack, visuals and acting was in Drive? Well, I personally enjoyed Bronson just as much if not more. This morning, sitting on a couch in South Philly with my friend Adrian I watched Bronson, and was delighted, intrigued and disgusted.

Tom Hardy stars as a narrator, on stage in front of an adoring audience, as he tells us his life, who he is and all he wanted to do “become famous”. Haunting angles, vivid dialogue and genius acting makes you pity Hardy’s character. What can the prison system do to someone who just literally wants to fight? Send him to the loony bin and sedate him out of his mind until all he wants to do is go back to prison?

While the last hour of the film haunts you with a soundtrack fitting the time period, you still feel those Drive vibes with the arresting beats. So, if you are in need of a movie to watch,  happen to love a little violence, a great soundtrack, epic facial hair and a jacked Tom Hardy I would advice sitting down to watch Bronson, it’s available on Netflix streaming. If you need a peek here is a clip: When Murder Goes Wrong
